Handpan Maintenence
The handpan is a very delicate instrument, but a few simple tricks are enough to ensure that it is not damaged.
Your handpan should not be stored inside its case for long periods when you are not traveling. The instrument needs to breathe: keeping it closed for too long can create humidity and lead to rust. Use the case only for transport, while at home it is best to keep the handpan in a dry, well-ventilated place.
The heat softens the metal and subsequently hits to the instrument change its shape, causing it to detune.

NOT EXPOSE TO THE SUN
Water in contact with metal can cause rust. To clean it use an antioxidant oil without water.

DO NOT WET IT
Drumsticks can cause damage to the thin sheet of metal and dent the instrument. To avoid damage the best solution is to hit the handpan using only your hands.

DO NOT HIT IT WITH STICKS
It is important to protect the instrument from possible impacts to prevent it from detuning; therefore the use of a special case is recommended. We recommend to keep handpan out of the case when not travelling.

DO NOT EXPOSE TO SHOCK
USE A CUSHION IF YOU PLAY THE HANDPAN UPSIDE DOWN
When playing the handpan placed on a stand, it’s important to use a soft cushion on top of the tripod, especially if you play it upside down with the gu facing upward. This way, you avoid damaging the notes on the top dome, protecting the instrument from unwanted impacts and pressure.
