The handpan is a very delicate instrument, but only a few simple steps are needed to ensure that the instrument is not damaged.
1) NOT EXPOSE TO THE SUN:
The heat softens the metal and subsequently hits to the instrument change its shape, causing it to detune.
2) DO NOT WET IT:
Water in contact with metal can cause rust. To clean it use an antioxidant oil without water.
3) DO NOT HIT IT WITH STICKS:
Drumsticks can cause damage to the thin sheet of metal and dent the instrument. To avoid damage the best solution is to hit the handpan using only your hands.
4) DO NOT EXPOSE TO SHOCK:
It is important to protect the instrument from possible impacts to prevent it from detuning; therefore the use of a special case is recommended.
